God cares about the small stuff and the small people… no I am talking about short people (although he cares for us too!) I am talking about the mini-me’s in our lives a.k.a. our children. Not to complain but MK’s (missionary kids) are kinda drug through the ringer. They don’t get to feel settled and safe in there little homes, just when things start to get normal they are yanked back up for a 2 to 12 hour drive to see places and people they don’t know. They ask questions like “are we staying in our rock house tonight or the hotel?” or for a simple trip to the grocery store they ask “are we going to the hotel?” life is anything but settled for these little people. Last week was an especially bad week, and this Momma was feeling more than a little guilty. We headed out Saturday and left the kids with their Grandparents as we had an especially tedious Sunday. Then, on our way home Monday, we had an appointment with an elderly couple we didn’t want them to have to sit through. So I essentially was with them Tuesday and Wednesday (most of which was spent packing) before I headed out Thursday morning for a woman’s retreat that my leadership asked me to attend (I gave a short introduction for Vanuatu). So I picked them up Saturday and we headed right out for you guessed it, a long drive to our hotel! So why am I saying God cares so much for these little tykes? With no service Sunday night we decided to drop in on a church on our long drive home. When we arrived at the church we were met with hundreds of cars, bounce houses, horse rides, and popcorn/ ice cream. We had two weary little travelers who only took seconds to notice and exclaim with pure glee! My husband and I looked at each other and got out in our church clothes for a carnival night! Later, as I held my eldest especially close to me in the fall chilly air, we watched the fire works and my normally “quiet” child (her sister is another story) told me with great excitement every color she seen in every single firework and asked afterwards if she could see "just one more". I thought about my favorite job, my job as Mom and my heart was full of worship at a God who cared about two little girls who had had a particularly unsettled week and well... life. Oh how he loves us, even the little us, our mini- me’s!
